LA Firefighters Helping To Fight Muscular Dystrophy

Los Angeles County firefighters are fighting muscular dystrophy this week with their annual “Fill the Boot” campaign.

From Thursday through Saturday, Local 1014 firefighters will be stationed at various intersections through the city to collect funds to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The annual “Fill the Boot” campaign is at its 8th year. Established in 1954, the drive provides services for almost 6,000 people living with a neuromuscular disease in Los Angeles.

Last year, California alone was able to raise over $1.75 million with its “Fill the Boot” fundraiser.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency working to research and defeat 43 neuromuscular diseases.

Money raised will go toward various programs including summer camps, support groups, and scientific research.
