LA Radio News

May radio Ratings are out and Clear Channel's Top 40 KIIS-FM continues to dominate the market with a (5.4) rating, followed by News Talk leader KFI (4.9) and Adult Contemporary KOST-FM (4.3).  The addition of Rick Dees to KHHT-FM hasn't helped, the station fell to a (3.0).

CBS Radio stations follow with Classic Hits KRTH-FM continuing to see a consistent decline in listeners (4.0).  Top 40 KAMP-FM (3.8)  and Adult Contemporary KTWV-FM experienced its third straight down book (3.0).

KNX's Jim Thornton has been named as the new announcer for "Wheel of Fortune." Because of his deep voice, Thornton was elevated from traffic reporter to anchor at KNX in 2005 which caused an objection over his lack of credentials and led, in part, to market veteran Gail Eichenthal to depart the station.  Former Price Is Right announcer Rich Fields and Voice-over talent Joe Cipriano also auditioned for the gig.

KSWD "The Sound" has changed its logo to reflect its new image of "Album Rock, True Variety." KSWD ranked 22nd in the latest book at 1.8.
