Metallica finish recording Lou Reed album

You read it right. Metallica have just finished recording an album with Lou Reed.

According to Metallica, writing on Metallica's website, Metallica finished recording a ten-song album with noted crank and art-rock Godfather Lou Reed last week.
They wrote that when Kirk Hammett was talking about a not-quite-Metallica album they were recording last month, he was talking about Metallica recording an album with Lou Reed.

We'll let them take it from here: 'Ever since we had the pleasure of performing with Lou at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009, we have been kicking around the idea of making a record together.'

They say that some clever observers have put two and two together, with Reed spotted around their San Francisco home studio over the last couple of months

The band gush, 'A true innovator and easily one of the most influential songwriters, musicians, and performers in rock music history, Lou's work with the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist has such an enduring quality that he has long been revered and respected by us and many of our peers.'

While the recording was quick, and they are 'beyond excited' and 'can't wait for you to listen' to it, they have no exact release date yet.

So, yeah. Metallica have just finished recording an album with Lou Reed
