JAMES DURBIN IS KING OF IDOLS COURT

Charming the judges and audience, James Durbin secured his place as an "American Idol" frontrunner by crooning to Carole King's hit "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?"
Enthused, Randy Jackson proclaimed, "That was incredible. Not only the performance of the night and you know what I think guys? This guy might just win the whole thing!"
Jennifer Lopez was just as impressed. "I thought from the beginning it was magical...You had me moving up here for the first time all night. You are going to be the star of the night with that one," she professed.
The song took Steven Tyler on a trip down memory lane. While on a bowling date, "That's the first song I made out to a girl with," he said.
Was James' fate sealed with a kiss? Tune in to Fox on Thursday night to find out if he is safe or going home. Watch a clip of the performance that knocked Randy's socks off.

THE VOICE: MUSICAL PERFORMANCES PREMIER

The Voice, to hear host Carson Daly tell it, premiered Tuesday on NBC as "a singing competition unlike any other, because it puts vocal ability first."
Sort of.

Before we even get to the musical performances on the series the network hopes will coax you away from American Idol, here's how it works ...

The Voice Judges
  1. Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine must each draft eight singers to form a team in the "blind auditions."

  2. The singers come out to wow the coaches, whose backs are turned, with their voices alone. If one of the coaches likes The Voice, then ...

  3. He/she presses a magic button that turns his chair around; if he's the only judge to turn, that vocalist is automatically on his/her team.

  4. If more than one coach presses his button, the vocalist who's being fought over gets to choose which coach he/she wants to work with.

  5. Once each coach has chosen eight singers, he or she personally trains the members of that team to make them better vocalists.

  6. Then comes Round Two, in which each coach is responsible for cutting half the members of his or her team. Gonna be rough.

  7. In its last round, The Voice will start to look a lot more familiar. The 16 remaining singers will perform live. Viewers will vote.

  8. The victor receives $100,000 and a record deal. Yay!

Alright, let's get down to business!

The first hopeful to enter the Voice Box (yup, the call it that) was Tarralyn Ramsey, whose rendition of Faith Hill's "Breathe" moved Xtina and Cee Lo:

Christina ended up with Tarralyn, while Patrick Thomas became the first member of Blake Shelton's team by channeling his inner Tim McGraw:

Patrick Thomas - Live Like You Were Dying (The Voice)

Vicci Martinez's passionate performance of "Rolling in the Deep" piqued the interest of both Cee Lo and Christina, but she went with Cee Lo.

This one was odd. Anyone remember Frenchie Davis from American Idol? She was kicked off because of a nude pic scandal. Now she's back:

Frenchie Davis - I Kissed A Girl (The Voice)

Now Christina's project now, while Kelsey Rey, a brunette cutie who whines about being so darn cute (boo hoo) landed on Cee Lo's team:

Kelsey Rey - American Boy (The Voice)

Then came Jeff Jenkins, who got ALL "four of the biggest artists on the planet Earth" (Carson loves to say this) to turn around for the first time:

Jeff Jenkins - Bless The Broken Road (The Voice)

Jeff chose Adam after heated competition. Also piquing interest from all four, and joining Adam, was Javier Colon with this "Time After Time" cover ...

Tje Austin's audition was one of the only times where the "blind" audition really came into play. Watch him below and you'll see what we mean ...

Tje Austin - Just the Way You Are (The Voice)

Beverly McClellan, the final singer of the night, landed with Xtina, giving all the judges three hopefuls. Next week, they pick five more. Here's Bev:

What did you think of The Voice premiere? A nice addition to the genre, or a complicated, gimmicky American Idol knockoff? Discuss!

RACHAEL RAY'S SKYDIVING IS CLAIMED DEATH DEFYING

It all started with a simple question to Rachel Ray's pal, Comic Bert Kreischer- "Is there anything you wouldn't do?" His immediate response was "skydiving," and the rest is history.
Cameras rolled during every step of their death-defying journey, from the pre-dive lessons, to the nerve-wracking flight, and concluding with a first-hand view of the terrifying drop.
Watch the clip to catch a preview of Rachael and Bert's thrilling jump, and don't miss the full episode of the "Rachael Ray Show" which airs Thursday, April 28th on CBS.

Beatification of John Paul II

The beatification ceremony — a Mass and day-long prayers beside John Paul’s coffin — is the next-to-last step before being designated a saint, a process that typically takes centuries.
The speed at which John Paul is being elevated is not without critics. On Saturday, victims of clergy sex abuse distributed leaflets outside churches in 62 cities to protest the beatification and to urge Catholics toturn abusers in to the police.
Debate has only begun among historians and church scholars about John Paul’s legacy as a pope, whether he was too lenient on sexually abusive priests and too harsh on dissenters.

Can this man really be called a saint?

He's almost one step away.
Pope John Paul II is being fast-tracked to sainthood but that doesn’t sit well with all Catholics. Though John Paul II is still the face ofthe Roman Catholic Church, even six years after his death, he is also the face of the sex abuse scandal that has rocked the Catholic Church and cost them billions.
So though beatification of John Paul II is set for tomorrow in Rome, and hundreds of thousands have gathered to watch in person (millions will on TV), this next-to-last step to sainthood is causing pain for thousands of others.
Not everyone thinks he’s saint material.
Victims of — and advocates for — thechurch sex abuse scandals handed out leaflets outside churches in dozens of cities protesting the beatification of John Paul II . These outspoken critics want the church to reconsider sainthood for a man they say shuffled priests off to other churches and turned a blind eye to accusations of abuse. They’re also urging Catholics to turn the accused abusers over to police.
But for all his critics, there are thousands more who are more than enthusiastic about seeing their beloved Pope sainted.
The thing is, John Paul’s sainthood is happening at a faster pace than usual. And once he is sainted, it can’t be undone. For those who were hurt by a church who, while not condoning these egregious and illegal acts, protected the men who perpetrated them, I can imagine tomorrow’s beatification ceremonieswould be a painful reminder.
Even historians aren’t convinced.
Catholics out there, what do you think of Pope John Paul II. Do you blame him for the church sex scandals? Now that so much has come to light, do you think your kids are safe in the church? Is John Paul II deserving of sainthood?

LADY GAGA PERFORMED "JUDAS" LIVE ON ELLEN

As promised, Lady Gaga performed her new hit song "Judas" live on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today, and as expected, she did not disappoint.

Despite being an international superstar with legions of fans, Gaga admitted to the host that she hasn't always been a paragon of confidence.

“Do I feel like a loser sometimes? Yes, of course I do,” she says.

It's okay, Lady. You were "Born This Way" baby and you are very much on the right track. That segue doesn't work as well for "Judas," but alas.
Watch her rock the house on Ellen below!

PARIS HILTON STALKER CAUGHT IN CAMERA

James Rainford, the stalker arrested in front of Paris Hilton's house last fall, resurfaced yesterday and actually came at Paris outside a courthouse.
The attack on Paris and Cy Waits, ironically, came while they were walking in to court to testify against a different man accused of stalking Hilton last year.
Video taken on the scene of the melee shows Rainford punching Waits in the back of the head and grabbing at his neck before being taken into custody.
Rangford says he wanted her autograph ... on his marriage proposal to her. The guy is not what you'd call stable. Watch the altercation go down below:

MARISA MILLER UPDATE: NEW PHOTOS

An angel has fallen! According to Page Six, model Marisa Miller is reportedly no longer working for Victoria's Secret. Miller started striking a pose for Victoria's Secret in 2002 and debuted on the runway in 2007. At the most recent show, Miller was chosen to don the $3 million "Fantasy Bra," made from 2,300 diamonds.

Her representatives wouldn't comment on the supposed split. But for old time's sake.

Victoria's Secret Angel and flag football pro Marisa Miller has been named FHM Magazine's Sexiest Women in the World. According to the Daily Mail UK, Miller received more than one million votes from readers in 24 countries, including the U.S., UK, Australia, China, France, India and South Africa. She ousted last year's winner Megan Fox.

So what's Miller up to now? She's the face of Harley-Davidson's new "Start Something" campaign, which, according to a press release, "is designed to encourage men to stop dreaming and start riding this summer." Miller said, "I learned to do burnouts on my Nighster on set which was a lot of fun. I hope this campaign can inspire new riders, and show them if I can do it, anybody can!"

Forget yesterday's rumors that Marisa Miller split from Victoria's Secret! A rep for Miller told People that, "rumors that Marisa Miller has parted ways with Victoria Secret are completely false. The supermodel, who has successfully worked with the brand for over 10 years, is currently in negotiations with VS to work out a position with the retail brand for 2010," and President and Chief Marketing Officer of Victoria's Secret Ed Razek said he adores the 31-year-old model. Phew!

Naked Marisa Miller tub time is featured in the August issue of British GQ magazine.
Miller - she of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue - blows bubbles and just covers her modesty, telling the lad mag "it felt really innocent and fun."
