Only Fools are the BEST

In a blinding result for Peckham’s dodgiest wheeler-dealer, an episode of Only Fools And Horses has been crowned as the decade’s most popular TV show.
The antics of Del Boy and Rodney Trotter on BBC1’s Christmas Day special in 2001 were watched by 21.3million people - an astonishing 74 per cent of the viewing audience.
It remains the most viewed show in the last ten years, even when set against major sporting events.
The episode, called If They Could See Us Now, saw the Trotters losing the £6.2million they had made selling an antique watch, and become bankrupt.
They return to Peckham and Del Boy, played by David Jason, appears on a game show called Gold Rush to try to win back their wealth.
The show features the classic scene in which Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and his wife Cassandra (Gwyneth Strong) try to spice up their love life with role play. She wears a police uniform and he dresses as a gladiator.
It was the first episode in five years, following a TV special in 1996. The main series finished in 1991, but Christmas specials continued until 2003.
When the 2001 episode was broadcast on Monday this week on BBC1 in an early afternoon slot, it still brought in more than two million viewers.
