Endymion captain Ed Muniz says he's hopeful his superkrewe can parade through Mid-City as expected on Saturday, despite a threatening forecast that calls for a 90 percent chance of rain.
Michael DeMocker / The Times-PicayuneMore than 2,400 members of Endymion roll down Orleans Avenue on 26 floats last February. Rain is threatening the 2011 parade. As a fallback plan, Muniz has put the city on alert that he may ask for permission to roll behind Bacchus on its Uptown parade route Sunday night. The city doesn't have enough police officers to man both the Mid-City and Uptown routes at one time, Muniz said. "We want to be in Mid-City and we want to be on Saturday," he said. "But obviously, being sensible people, we are not going to parade if we think it is dangerous." Bob Wagner, a meteorologist with the Slidell office of the National Weather Service, said the timing of the inclement weather "couldn’t have been much worse.”
