Entertainment Weekly names Katie Holmes' Dawson's Creek as WB's Memorable Moment
As the WB signs off, EW made a list of the network's most memorable moments and the debut of Dawson's Creek ranks number three on the top ten.
It was January 20th, 1998 when the pilot episode aired and television viewers first met and fell in love with Katie Holmes as Joey. The storylines, the acting, the pop culture dialogue and the gorgeous cast combined to make Dawson's Creek a hit for six seasons.
Katie competed at IMTA in 1993 and 1995. She met the managers that started her career in an IMTA workshop. She went up to perform her monologue and impressed them with her ability to take direction. They kept an eye on her all week. By Friday, they were lining up auditions and Katie shot her first screen test with the IMTA Video Crew. She was cast as Libbets Casey in Ang Lee's The Ice Storm. When she came to visit and present awards at IMTA in 1997, she commented,"Let's just say a girl from Toledo doesn't end up in a Hollywood movie if it weren't for the IMTA. I owe a lot to this Convention." Katie was recently named one of the "100 Greatest Teen Stars", a television special that countdowns the most awesome teen celebrities ever from TV, movies and music. In our book, on our lists and in our hearts, Katie is number one too!
