Pentagon Papers finally published, 40 years on

40 years after embarrassing details of the document were leaked, a US government report into the Vietnam War, The Pentagon Papers, were finally published in full.



These papers are about President Lyndon Johnson's administration was launched a Vietnam Study Task Force in 1967. The purpose was to write a comprehensive report about America's in the Vietnam conflict.



In 1971, excerpts were leaked to the New York Times by former United States Military Analyst Daniel Ellsberg. It was shown in the report that US administrations had lied successively to the public regarding Vietnam War. President Richard Nixon needed to prevent any further such leaks.
