‘Barefoot Bandit’ Colton Harris-Moore back in court

Colton Harris-Moore -- Camano Island's own"Barefoot Bandit" and international celebrity fugitive --again pleaded not guilty to a string of burglaries on Thursday.
Appearing Thursday in U.S. District Court, Harris-Moore pleaded not guilty to chargescontained in a second grand jury indictment filed last month .
The case, however, may be resolved soon.
John Henry Browne, Harris-Moore's attorney, said prosecutors and the defense are "very close" to a plea deal for the Barefoot Bandit. A preliminary draft of the plea deal could be completedlater Thursday.
Browne wouldn't offer details of the plea deal but said it would resolve criminalaccusations against Harris-Moore in state and federal courts.
Harris-Moore, 20, is facing a slew of charges stemming from his lengthy flight from justice. The alleged plane andboat thief was arrested in the Bahamas after he crashed a stolen aircraft there in July.

Cane Corso Mastiff Fatally Mauls Boy, But Dog Is Not To Blame

A 4-year-old Brooklyn boy was tragically mauled to death on Friday night by the family dog. Young Jayelin Graham was attacked by the dog as his 2- and 5-year-old brothers (who were also injured) watched in horror from underneath the bed. His mother, Saquina Jubeark had stepped out of the apartment into the hall with her infant daughter when the dog grabbed onto the boy’s neck and never let go.


A neighbor ran in when she heard the mother’s shrieks, but was unable to even get close to the dog who had gone into a full blown killing mode. Whatever caused the Cane Corso Mastiff to attack is unclear but neighbors were not surprised. They say the dog which belonged to the mother’s boyfriend, Damian Jones was trained tokill. Jones had bragged aboutthat fact many times.


Neighbors report that the family home was a disaster waiting to happen for more reasons than this dog alone.
The first-floor family home housed the Cane Corso, two other dogs, two birds and fish in a midst of filth along with 4 young children.
The NY Post reports that neighbors said Jones “routinely punched and kicked his feared canine collective — a pit bull, a husky mix and the cane-corso mix.” When people would ask breed of dogs they were, he’d reply “monster dogs.” Jones was a fan of When Animals Attack” on Facebook page.

The homeis said to have had “putrid smell as flies hovered over dog feces in every room. A giant parrot cage rose four feet high in the center of the living room. Motorcycle wheels were stacked in the kitchen.”

Winklevoss twins take Facebook to the Supreme Court

It's their last stand -- TMZ reports, the Winklevoss twins have decided to take their beef with Facebook to the Supreme Court ... to undo a $65 million settlement with the company

It's their final shot at redemption after losing several rounds in court -- including the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals -- Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss now want the Supreme Court to invalidate the settlement agreement they made with Facebook back in 2008 ... reportedly valued at $65 million.

The twins insist they were defrauded by Mark Zuckerberg during negotiations for the settlement -- which was paid in Facebook stock -- claiming the actual value of the settlement was less than half what they were led to believe.

The twins just released a statement, claiming their attorney intends to file a petition with the Supreme Court after they were shut down by the 9th Circuit today.

According to the statement, "The Court’s decision shut the courthouse door to a solid claim that Facebook obtained this settlement by committing securities fraud. Our Petition to the Supreme Court will ask the high court to decide whether that door should be reopened."

Suicide blamed on Facebook faker

Peter Russell took his life after falling for Facebook persona

The mother of a man who committed suicide after he was rejected by an online persona of the "Facebook Predator" has spoken of her hatred for the woman.

Distraught mum Raewyn Ford said her son, Peter Russell, 21, took his life after being dumped by Natalia Burgess. His family now want police to refer the case back to the coroner after discovering the degree to which he was manipulated.

Russell, from Christchurch, who had proposed to vivacious blonde "Laura Jane West", never found out that she was in fact a bogus identity.

"I hate her," said Ford. "I hate her for everything she's doing to these young boys - playing head games with kids and actually convincing them she's a real person. It's just wrong."

It is the latest twist in the bizarre story of Burgess, 27, who is under investigation after developing dozens of online relationships with teenagers.

Raewyn Ford said "West" asked to be added as a friend to her son's Facebook page in January last year. They were in regular contact by phone and online, and in April Russell posted a video clip on YouTube proposing marriage.

Burson-Marsteller Caught Deleting Facebook Criticism; Facebook Delivers Statement

Both Facebook and PR firm Burson-Marsteller—the two companies caught right in the middle of the unfortunately titled "Googlegate" episode from last week—have issued statements describing their involvement in the situation. According to both companies, the plan to pitch articles to newspapers describing Google's alleged privacy violations wasn't intended to be a negative campaign against the company.



Yet, Burson-Marsteller apparently hasn't learned its lesson from the influx of criticism surrounding its involvement in the mess. The company has since been caught deleting criticism from Facebook users posting on the company's official Facebook page.



First, Facebook's statement:



"No 'smear' campaign was authorized or intended. Instead, we wanted third parties to verify that people did not approve of the collection and use of information from their accounts on Facebook and other services for inclusion in Google Social Circles—just as Facebook did not approve of use or collection for this purpose," said a Facebook representative to USA Today.
