Hi,
I am in a similar position, but slight variations.
H1B from Jul 2003. Already on 7th year extension which expires in Oct 2010. My Priority date is Jun 2007 and I-140 is already approved but, I could not apply for I-485 in Jul 2007 window.
I have the following questions.
1. Can I change a job ? If so, for how long will the H1-B be valid.
2. If the H1-B is valid, can the USCIS reject the application if the my current employer decides to revoke the I-140.
3. If I-140 is revoked, is there is possibility to port the priority date or will it be an entirely new priority date based on new application.
I have been getting conflicting opinions from different people. A particular immigration lawyer I consulted adviced me against a job change, though I might get a new 3 year H1B, he feared CIS might revoke it if I-140 is revoked (it is quiet clear my employer will revoke the I-140). Is there any guidance/cases regarding the same from CIS ?

The attorney is right and no where has she specifically stated it as an "Indian only" issue. It just happens that lot of consultancies are owned by Indians and they could be her clients.
But she has at least brought visibility to the sudden enforcement tactics of the USCIS, which can only be termed as seeing everyone as a criminal, just because you found one or two in a bunch. In fact hearing about a lot of H1 extensions denied (even with approved 140) or given only for a very limited period of time, extensive RFEs etc. all I can say is that if they are unable to legislatively "purge" foreign workers due to business lobby, they sure are trying to do so administratively.

What is the difference between L1B and H1B? Why don't companies hire on L1B when H1B's are over? Thanks.
L1B is comany transfer, for L1B company need to have good revenue for sponsoring L1b and L1b holder must work on the it�s country for minimum of year. Now a days there is restrictions like only computer back ground people need to apply for L1 ( BE/B.Tech in CSE,EEE,ECE) on this because companies are misusing it for no annual cab.
Since it is company transfer H1B is not eligible for L1B ( you have to work in the company home country for 1 year to be eligible) but L1B is eligible for H1b. But many of the Indian companies are not sponsoring green cards for L1A and L1b of then do then they will also face retrogression.

Ask your company to demote you to developer position once u get ur green card. GC is for a future job position.

DOL claimed that the newspaper ad was sent to them without the date of it. So we sent them back the whole paper-page where the date is usually printed at the very top with my job ad on it.

AC21 letter can be sent to USCIS, but as everyone says its not a must.
AC21 letter is a MUST if I-140 was revoked by the previous employer. There are cases where USCIS had mistakenly denied I-485's with revoked I-140's in spite of submitting AC21 papers.
In such situations, the only life saver in MTR (Motion to Re-appeal) is the proof of submitting AC21 papers on time.

Actually Steve I've been doing some reading and research but I've always been some what of a "show me don't tell me" type person. At the present I only own the Kit lens that came with the D70 (AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED). So you have me at a disadvantage when you speak of limitations of a lens that goes to 5.6 on the long end. Basically I'm looking for a affordable zoom for landscape, concert and sport photography. I've read several favorable user reviews but then not knowing the source of these reviews you don't know if they also gave four and a half stars to a coke bottle. Reading through posts here on the forum I can tell who are the professional photographers by their equipment knowledge. So saying that there are opinions I would find more valuable than others. In a nutshell I have found the lens in question on Ebay at a current bid of 250 dollars. If I am correct this is half of what it lists for. I'd just like to know if it would be a good buy/good lens for a aspiring photographer to begin expanding his lens arsenal with.

Note that once you get a new passport the old one will be stamped as cancelled. So effectively you only get to use the new passport and all stamping will be done on that.

did you by any chance not send the extra $15 or so which guarantees overnight delivery. My experience is that I got my new passport back within 7 days. Same with my wife's passport. This is SF I am talking about.

I'm planning to get immigration medical examination done for my wife. We're also planning for pregnancy.
One doctor said we should not try for pregnancy for 4-6 months once she get the shots. He also said he will give a waiver for now for the shots but USCIS will ask for it later. Is that a good idea?
Another doctor said she can do a blood test and determine if she needs the shots.
Any body in the same situation?
Check with your OB/GYN for important matters like this. Also, we had taken most of the vaccinations in India and they could identify the antibodies through blood tests. You could even get the blood tests get at your PCP earlier. Also, check webmd.com. It is a good resource, or you could call up the nurse line that most insurance companies provide now.

for my 8th Year extension I applied on 16th Nov.2007
and got approval notice on 28th Nov.2007 with 1 Yr extension.
Actually based on December bulletin my attorney asked for 3 yrs. but got 1 yr. as in Nov my PD is current.
Off-course on 30th my I485 is approved.
So there is no doubt your attorney is so wrong.......

They said the same to my undelivered AP that they never received it. But they sent AP back to my lawyer along with my undelivered notice . My lawyer got it after 45 days from the day USCIS said it is initally mailed.
I applied for my EAD in July 2007, got it approved Oct 2007, mailed to me but I NEVER received it.

You should probably include area of chargeability as well, to help the experts answer. This can make a huge difference as well.
