Michelle Obama's visit to La La Land

The First Lady was in Southern California on Monday and she kicked off the morning with a panel discussion on how to improve integration of military family stories into film and TV.

The event was hosted at the Writers Guild Theater in Bevery Hills,

Michelle Obama was joined by Katherine Fugate, creator of Lifetime's "Army Wives", directed by J.J. Abraham, to discuss unique challenges faced by military families.

The First Lady took advantage of this opportunity to promote Joining Forces initiative, and plans to hold fundraising events for President Obama's 2012 re-election campaign.

In the evening, the first lady attended a fundraiser at the Westwood home of Michael S. Smith and James Costos.  Costos is an executive at HBO.
