IMTA alum Eva Longoria Parker returned as the host of the ALMA Awards which is airing tonight on NBC! The ALMA Awards (American Latino Media Arts) recognize excellence in latin actors portrayals. Honorees included Amercia Ferrara, Charlie Sheen and Shakira. This is Eva's second year to host the prestigious awards and she is the event's Executive Producer.
"We are thrilled that this year's broadcast of the ALMA Awards will kick off Hispanic Heritage Month...What better way is there to celebrate than with a star-studded showcase of Latino contributions to American culture? We are also delighted to have Eva back as our host. She's respected and talented in the entertainment industry and a true champion for our community," said Janet Murguia, president and CEO of the National Council of La Raza. The National Council of La Raza is one of the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States.
Eva competed at IMTA in 1998 and had 38 agencies and managers interested in representing her! She signed with a manager she had met at the convention. Eva told Pageantry Magazine that,“The first day they signed me I had four auditions...It was pretty fast.” She quickly moved to Los Angeles and landed guest-starring roles on Beverly Hills 90210, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. Most of us know her best as Gabby on Desperate Housewives.
