IMTA's Brandon Routh in Dylan Dog Dead of Night in Theaters Now!

Brandon Routh is starring in the new film Dylan Dog Dead of Night in theaters nationwide now. Brandon plays investigator Dylan Dog who specializes in dealing with the undead. This long-awaited horror comedy is based a hugely popular comic book.


Brandon competed at IMTA during the New York, New York 1999 Convention. IMTA insider scoop-he was known as BJ Routh then! Brandon got lots of face time with the agents, managers and casting directors and ended up moving to Los Angeles. He signed with Mara Santino and Ryan Daly who were with Kazarian/Spencer & Associates at that time. Brandon was chosen for the role of Superman following an exhaustive search that spanned the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Brandon is in post-production on the indie drama film Missing William.

Brandon Routh to film Missing William



Brandon Routh IMTA alum from 1999 is set to star in the indie film Missing William. According to The Wrap in Missing William: "Courtney Ford (Brandon's real life wife) will play an artist living in Rhode Island who is forced to care for her husband after he's tragically injured in a bar fight. As she attempts to nurse him back to health, her childhood sweetheart and unrequited love (Routh) tries to coax her back into living her life again. A complicated love triangle ensues, with the woman torn between the brain-damaged husband she loves and the hunky former flame who got away." Brandon's film Dylan Dog: Dead of Night is set for international release on October 26. Brandon competed at IMTA during the New York, New York 1999 Convention. Brandon Routh in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in Theaters Now!

IMTA's Superman Brandon Routh has a new film in theaters today, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World! Brandon is starring as Todd Ingram, evil boyfriend number 3, who happens to be vegan and is associated with the League of Evil Exes. Check out this amazing interactive site featuring the movie. According to the San Francisco Chronicle : ""Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,"(is) an adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel series about a Toronto bass player who must battle his new girlfriend's seven evil exes before he can finally win her heart."

Brandon Routh in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World!

IMTA alum Brandon Routh is starring as Todd Ingram in the feature film Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World! Cinema Blend says, "A new international trailer for the Michael Cera movie has been released, and impossibly, it takes the fun levels up to eleven. In particular, this trailer offers an extended look at Brandon Routh’s part in the film, and as usual he seems genius." The Universal Pictures film is set for release August 13th.



Brandon Routh competed at IMTA during the New York, New York 1999 Convention. His handsome face was on the IMTA stage for Swimwear, Team Fashion, Runway and in acting competitions. IMTA insider scoop...he was known as BJ Routh then!

He had been scouted by Patrick Baca, who encouraged him to compete at IMTA. Brandon got lots of face time with the agents, managers and casting directors and ended up moving to Los Angeles. He signed with Mara Santino and Ryan Daly of Kazarian/Spencer & Associates. Routh was chosen for the role of Superman following an exhaustive search that spanned the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Thousands of candidates were interviewed before the final selection was made.

Prior to his worldwide starring role as THE MAN OF STEEL, Routh was best known for his soap work, including roles on One Life to Live and the MTV nighttime soap, Undressed. He's also had guest-starring roles on Cold Case, Will & Grace, and Gilmore Girls.

Brandon Routh joins Chuck!

IMTA alum Brandon Routh is joining NBC's hip action- comedy television show Chuck for a multi-episode arc! He is scheduled to join for the season’s fourth episode. According to EW Brandon will play: “Shaw, a mysterious new spy who takes control as the new leader of Operation Bartwoski, becoming a mentor to Chuck (Zachary Levi) and a rival in his affections for Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski).”


Brandon is working on filming three movies: Dead of Night, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Unthinkable. In Dead of Night, he plays Dylan Dog who is a detective with extraordinary talents. In Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, he plays Todd Ingram in a story about how he has to defeat his crushes ex love interests to gain her attention. In Unthinkable, his role is as Agent Jackson in this tale of espionage and nuclear weapons!

After competing at IMTA New York 1999, Brandon said to IMTA in an interview, "It's great being here and meeting all the agents." IMTA alumni films now out on DVD!



Three IMTA alums have films out on DVD this week: Fling (aka Lie to Me) stars two IMTA alumni; Steve Sandvoss and Brandon Routh and Splinter stars Jill Wagner. Fling won awards at several film festivals when it previewed. It is a romantic comedy about best friends, love and marriage. Brandon Routh plays the lead character James and Steve Sandvoss plays Mason.



Splinter is about a viral monster that twists the bodies of its prey into the shapes best suited to carry out its unrelenting desire to infect more victims and kill again.




Steve competed at the L.A. 2003 IMTA Convention. He was cast in Latter Days shortly after moving to L.A. to pursue his acting career. He also appeared in the feature film Rumor Has It with Jennifer Aniston. He recently wrapped Judy's Got a Gun with fellow IMTA alum Lauren Storm and the horror flick Buried Alive.His television appearances include roles on Nip/Tuck, Cold Case, Grey's Anatomy, Dr. Vegas and American Dreams. Steve is in post-production on film Exquisite Corpse.



Jill competed at IMTA in Los Angeles in 2001 where she won Female Model of the Year! Many people know Jill as the Lincoln Mercury car girl as she has done many ad campaigns for the auto giant! Most recently she has been co-hosting the popular game show Wipeout. She played an operative on fellow IMTA alum Ashton Kutcher's hilarious show Punk'd and while on the show she punk'd Katie Holmes, yet another IMTA alum! Her television roles include Monk, Dr. Vegas, starring as Larrin in Stargate Atlantis, Blade: The Series, and she starred in the independent films Junebug and Shifted.


Brandon Routh, who competed at IMTA in 1999, is currently filming three movies: Dead of Night, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Unthinkable. Before his break out role as Superman in Superman Returns, Brandon was best known for his soap work, including roles on One Life to Live and the MTV nighttime soap, Undressed. Steve Sandvoss and Brandon Routh in Fling!


Brandon Routh's latest film Fling (aka Lie to Me) is opening today in theaters! This film won awards at several film festivals where it was previewed. Fling actually stars two IMTA alumni; Steve Sandvoss and Brandon Routh! It is a romantic comedy about best friends, love and marriage. Brandon Routh plays the lead character James and Steve Sandvoss plays Mason.

Brandon will also be appearing in a new web series called Lawyers! According to Variety, the show will be, "a web venture designed to showcase the work of WGA (Writers Guild of America) members and pros from other guilds and unions. Lawyers! is series of webisodes written, produced, and directed for Strike TV by Gabe Grifoni & Suzanne Francis which will be launching later this month." After competing at IMTA New York 1999, Brandon said to IMTA in an interview, "It's great being here and meeting all the agents." Before Superman Returns, Brandon was best known for his soap work, including roles on One Life to Live and the MTV nighttime soap, Undressed. Brandon is in post production on four films; Life is Hot in Cracktown, Miss Nobody, Table for Three and Stuntman. He is currently in pre-production on a project called Dead of Night where he portrays Dylan Dog. Brandon is also in the hilarious film Zack and Miri in theaters now. He is currently filming Unthinkable, a thriller about the FBI and terrorist.


Steve competed at the L.A. 2003 IMTA Convention where he caught the eye of Al Onorato, the same manager who started Elijah Wood and Katie Holmes' careers. He was cast in Latter Days shortly after moving to L.A. to pursue his acting career. He also appeared in the feature film Rumor Has It with Jennifer Aniston. He recently wrapped Judy's Got a Gun with fellow IMTA alum Lauren Storm and the horror flick Buried Alive about kids who perform a college prank at an abandoned house and accidentally awaken a frightening ghost. His television appearances include roles on Nip/Tuck, Cold Case, Grey's Anatomy, Dr. Vegas and American Dreams. Steve is in post-production on film Exquisite Corpse.

Brandon Routh will be in a new and upcoming webseries called Lawyers! for Strike.TV. According to Variety the show will be: "a web venture designed to showcase the work of WGA members and pros from other guilds and unions. Brandon Routh is filming Table for Three




IMTA alum Brandon Routh is starring in a new film called Table For Three. This romantic comedy is about a single guy named Scott Teller (Brandon Routh), who allows a couple who are his friends to move in with him. It turns out not have been such a good idea as they cause all sorts of problems including interfering with his attempt to date.
Brandon competed at IMTA New York 1999 where he impressed several agents, made contacts and relocated to Los Angeles. He signed with Kazarian/Spencer & Associates, who represented him when he was cast as Superman after an exhaustive world-wide search.

Prior to his break through role as the Man of Steel, Brandon was best known for his soap work, including roles on One Life to Live and the MTV nighttime soap, Undressed. IMTA Alumni Films at The Newport Beach Film Festival!

Several IMTA alumni are starring in movies which showcase their talents this week at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California. The acclaimed Festival will host premieres, events and galas in beautiful Newport Beach, CA. Among the prestigious offerings will be six movies that star seven IMTA alumni!


Lie to Me stars two IMTA alumni, Steve Sandvoss and Brandon Routh. This movie is a romantic comedy about best friends, love and marriage. Brandon competed at IMTA in 1999 in New York City and is best known as Superman/Clark Kent in Superman Returns. Steve competed at the L.A. 2003 IMTA Convention where he caught the eye of Al Onorato, the same manager who started Elijah Wood and Katie Holmes' careers. The Festival will be the world-premiere for this film! You can watch the trailer here:



Alyson Stoner stars as the 11 year old Alice McKinley in Alice Upside Down, a coming of age drama about a teenage girl who is mourning the death of her mother. To cope with her grief, she escapes into a vivid fantasy life which sometimes gets her into trouble. Alyson competed at IMTA in New York City in 2000 and is one of young Hollywood's most popular actresses. Her new Disney movie Camp Rock will air on June 20. Alyson will be at the Newport Film Festival signing autographs at the premiere of Alice Upside Down. Alyson recorded a video invitation to invite her fans and filmgoers to the screening that you can watch here:




Brittany Curran has two films appearing in this festival: Adventures of Food Boy and Diamond Dog Caper. Brittany competed at IMTA and signed with industry greats Diane Hardin and Judy Savage. In her movie Diamond Dog Caper, Brittany plays the main character's self-involved older sister Lilly in this hilarious comedy about diamond thieves and their dog. In Adventures of Food Boy Brittany plays Shelby in this comedy which is about a boy who can make food magically appear.

IMTA Alum Kunal Sharma is also part of the cast of Adventures of Food Boy! He plays the role of Joel in the movie. Kunal recently did an interview promoting the film and he mentions his IMTA experience:

Hi Kunal. It’s great to see you again, and thanks for spending some time with us today. To start, can you tell us how you got into acting?
Though I always had an interest in the performing arts, I began to actively pursue it after participating in IMTA. This is a nationwide talent competition held in Los Angeles where kids are able to showcase their acting prowess as well as get a chance to meet people from the industry. Thereafter, I began to take some acting classes in LA and this solidified my passion.

The Art of Travel is also playing and stars IMTA alum from 1994 Los Angeles Brooke Burns. The film tells the story about a young man who goes to South America on his honeymoon alone after his wedding falls apart. Brooke is starring as Darlene Loren in this adventure movie.You can catch Brooke on TV now in the hilarious comedy produced by fellow IMTA alum Ashton Kutcher, in Miss Guided. Jessica Biel is starring in the short film Hole in the Paper Sky. This film revolves around the self discovery a young doctoral student learns when he saves a laboratory dog and finds love. Jessica has made an impact in Hollywood ever since she competed at IMTA in 1994. After competing at IMTA, her breakthrough role was as Mary Camden on the very popular WB series 7th Heaven. Hole in the Paper Sky is garnering rave reviews. Roger Moore of the Orlando Sentinel said, "Bill Purple's Hole in the Sky is 33 minutes of exquisitely observed loneliness and is easily the saddest film in this year's Florida Film Festival. It's a simple story, handsomely mounted and told with pathos by a terrific cast that includes Jessica Biel, Steven Collins and Garry Marshall."

Brandon Routh in Fear Itself

IMTA alum Brandon will be starring in a new horror mini- series called Fear Itself. This mini series will be comprised of 13 episodes all featuring famous horror writers, actors, and directors. It will be brought to television by Lionsgate and Industry Entertainment. Some of the infamous names attached to this project are John Landis ("An American Werewolf in London"), Ernest Dickerson (NBC's Heroes).Darren Bousman (Saw II, III and IV), Ronny Yu (Freddy vs. Jason, Bride of Chucky), Brad Anderson (The Machinist), Breck Eisner (upcoming Universal Pictures film Creature from the Black Lagoon), Mary Harron (American Psycho) and Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator). Fear Itself is designed to have very scary story lines that people will remember forever and Brandon will be part of that history!

Happy Birthday Brandon Routh!

We want to wish a Super Birthday to Superman, IMTA alum Brandon Routh! He turns 28 today! Brandon competed at IMTA New York 1999.

Patrick Baca scouted him in Iowa and encouraged him to showcase his talent at the upcoming IMTA Convention. Brandon competed in Team, Runway and many other modeling and talent IMTA competitions. He impressed several agents, made contacts and relocated to Los Angeles. He signed with Kazarian/Spencer & Associates, who represented him when he was cast as Superman after an exhaustive world-wide search. Brandon said to IMTA in an interview he gave at the Convention,"It's great being here and meeting all the agents."

Brandon was recently cast in the ensemble film The Informers starring Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger. Hope you have a great Birthday Brandon! Best wishes from all of us at IMTA!

Brandon Routh Movie News!

In a recent interview, Entourage's Kevin Connelly revealed that he and Brandon Routh will be starring a new film together! Brandon will be playing the role of Gene Krupa in the film about the first interracial band in the 1930's. Brandon is currently taking drum lessons to prepare for the role!

Brandon Routh in Superman: Man of Steel


Entertainment Weekly has a quote from IMTA alum Brandon about the upcoming sequel to Superman Returns! In the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly in the "Deal Report" section, Brandon is qouted as saying, "As far as I know it is going to be called 'Superman: Man of Steel'... I was told we should start filming early next year," he says. "I have to get back to the gym. I've let myself go."

Brandon Routh Wins Best Actor for Superman Returns at the Saturn Awards!



Superstar Brandon Routh was the recipient of the Best Actor Award at the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films at the Saturn Awards 35th anniversary this year. He was recognized for his role as Superman in 2006 mega-hit Superman Returns. In 2006, this Academy awarded him with a win for Best Male Newcomer. His blockbuster movie led the 2007 ceremony as the biggest winners with five awards in film which included IMTA alum Brandon for Best Actor, for Best Direction Bryan Singer, forbBest Writing Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty, and for Best Music John Ottman. Brandon also received an Empire Award in 2007 in the U.K. for Best Male Newcomer for Superman Returns.

IMTA Alumni featured as Most Beautiful People!



Two IMTA alumni made People Magazine's Most Beautiful People of 2007 issue! Eva Longoria and Jessica Biel were two of eleven celebrities photographed without makeup for the issue to show their natural beauty!


The annual list has featured several IMTA alumni in past years. This marks the fifth year in a row IMTA has had stars on the list! Brandon Routh, Ashton Kutcher, Josh Duhamel, Eva Longoria, Katie Holmes, and Beverly Peele all made previous Most Beautiful People Issue!

It's the One Year Anniversary of THAT IMTA BLOG!


Wow! It has been a year of exciting IMTA alumni projects already! We have had 365 days full of an amazing variety of projects that feature models, actors, singers and dancers who got their career started by competing at IMTA. The photo above of Jessica Biel was actually the very first photo featured on the blog. Thanks to all our loyal readers and visitors for your support! And now....the year in review!:

  • Brandon Routh debuts as Superman, the first in the franchise in the awesome film, Superman Returns. Brandon competed at the New York, 1999 IMTA Convention.

  • Eva Longoria is named Maxim magazine's #1 on the Hot 100 List. She also appeared on numerous magazine covers, is named L'Oreal and Bebe Sport's spokeswoman as well as debuting in her first feature film and continuing her much-beloved role as Gabrielle Solis in the world-wide smash hit series Desperate Housewives! Eva competed at Los Angeles, 1998 IMTA Convention where she received 38 callbacks from agents interested in representing her.
  • Jessica Biel starred in one of 2006's most critically acclaimed films, The Illusionist. She also presented awards at The Academy Awards and The Emmy Awards. Jessica appeared on numerous magazine covers and was a guest on several talk shows. Jessica competed at IMTA in Los Angeles in 1994.

  • Hayley Bennett made her feature film debut in the hit Music and Lyrics. She is recording material for her first album. Hayley also did a lot of publicity for the film, interviews and is one of the hottest up and coming actresses in Hollywood. Hayley competed at IMTA in 2001.
  • Sean Harju, IMTA's 2006 1st Runner Up Male Model of the Year, is one of the hottest models on the fashion scene. He modeled in NINE shows during New York's fashion week as well as the very prestigious Calvin Klein's Milan show!

  • Jerry Ferrara stars in his fourth season as the beloved Turtle on the HBO hit series Entourage. Jerry competed at IMTA in 2000.

  • Jessica White was a featured model for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue! She had a special shoot on location in Los Angeles with photographer Anne Menke. She was also chosen for a special feature "Models and Musicians" and was photographed with rock stars Gnarls Barkley. Jessica competed at IMTA in 1999.
  • Ashton Kutcher and Josh Duhamel were named on People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive list! Both of these handsome actors were alumni of the New York, New York 1997 IMTA Convention.
  • Supermodel Zhanna appeared in tons of magazine and advertising layouts. She is represented by IMG Models.
