Clare Maguire premieres “The Last Dance” music video.

Literally every 6 months the UK spits out some new female artist and then dubs her “the next big thing”. The ladies are always young, talented, and have a nice mixture of both indie credibility and mainstream appeal. Clare Maguire is the latest product of this never-ending cycle, and she’s just premiered the music video for her second official single “The Last Dance”.
The attractive 23-year-old possesses a good ear for pop tunes and deep, throaty wail (i.e. the complete opposite of Ellie Goulding’s voice) that landed her fifth place on BBC’s The Sound of 2011 list,  a spot on MTV’s Brand New: For 2011 Acts list, and a “Next Big Thing” Q Award. So yeah, there’s a lot riding on the woman this year.
“The Last Dance” is probably the most mainstream sounding song we’ve heard from Claire thus far, which is definitely a good thing since it should allow her to turn some of this critical buzz into commercial success. It’s not a bad tune, and you’ll find yourself nodding along wants the drums and bass really pick up towards the middle of the song.
Check it out below. And yes, I’m fully aware that she resembles Katy Perry in this video.
